Post 6: English Language Challenges

My english background before university was very low, because at my school the english classes weren’t very good, they kept teaching almost the same thing every year so what i turn out learning was a very basic english, because of this and personal interest to learn new languages most of what i know of english i learnt it by myself, using different apps, websites and similar things. Thanks to what I learned this semester at the university I can say i have a larger vocabulary that now includes more technical and  academic words. This is very helpful because now i can write and read papers related to my career that aren’t just in spanish and this leads me to different knowledge that comes from universities around the world. When it comes to speaking english i think that i do a decent job to communicate my ideas and i can easily have a conversation that i can improve by speaking and engaging with native speakers. CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

If I could change something in my study program I would start questioning about the courses I have and if they’ve really helped me throughout my career.  For instance I think it would have been better if in the first years of Design they would teach us more about production methods so from an early stage we could know how our designs and ideas can actually be done because most of the times the assignments we have to do end up being prototypes. In relation to this we don’t get enough connection with the environment, generally we have to create a necessity or problem that we have to solve but it would be better if we worked with communities that we don’t know, help them with their problems and end up making real changes for them that will also lead to different social, professional and creative skills by engaging in the society.    Another thing that comes to mind is the materials that we get to use for our classes, during the years that I've been studying I found that they...

My Personal Opinion

  What is your opinion about the Chilean politicians? I think chilean politicians have had a lot of chances to make changes in the last 20 years but it haven't been the case, the people is sick of hearing the same promises that never happen, so the politicians have lost the legitimacy . What is your opinion about violence on television? I think we live in a violent society so for one side, I don't think that we have to let hidden the tragic things that already happen, but I also think that it cant be the only thing that the TV have to show, otherwise it wouldn't be good for our mental health and could make feel the population more scared and more anxious. What is your opinion about buying instead of adopting pets? I always ask my self what is the moral or ethic that we have to have about pets, is better to let free a pet by buying one or is better take a street dog to give him a better life? My future Job: Magazine Editor

 When someone ask me about my future job, I think I would like to work in something that doesn't make me feel I'm in a job, like being payed for doing what you most like to do. I think being working where the office time would be the least as posible and with a interdisciplinary group of people that would let me learn about other topics.  Thinking in what I'm studying, as a future designer I like working with new colors and shapes to express my and others points of view or ideas. If there is something that I have learnt these last 10 years, is that the only way to refresh your mind to find new technics, colors and shapes for new stuff, is traveling.  While traveling I have always got inspiration for new ideas.  So the only job I see that mixes all these aspects is being an editor and curator of an art magazine. Damas Gratis: Unexpected Concert

The best concert I have ever been, was the one of Damas Gratis, an argentine group of cumbia, in January of 2020, when the Coronavirus already existed but it wasn't such a big deal as the crisis that we have now. I arrived the night before the concert to the Chiloe island in the city of Castro, without any idea about the concert in that moment, and I met some guys that were in the same place where I was camping and they told me that there will be a concert of Damas Gratis in Dalcahue that is 40 minutes from Castro and they asked if I wanted to join to their group to go together to the concert. My answer was of course yes, because it is one of my favorite groups of cumbia and the concert was for free!  The concert took place in a field open air and very spaceful, there were people selling typical food and drinks from the island and the atmosphere was very familiar with people of any age. The Biggest Destination: Russia

For a long time I have wanted to go to Russia. I always heard and read about this country in many movies, news, history books and politics, as a big country with a lot of influence around the world, but with a non typical western culture. This last fact made me more curious about this other side of the World.  As a southamerican, United States had always influenced in our culture, with such a normal thing for us like Hollywood. However, this kind of films I always found very repetitive in their narrative and not so representative of my personal experience of life. So one of the first things I started seeing to explore and understand the russian culture and history, was the sovietic movies and then I couldn't stop! I became a big fan of sovietic style of films, specially because it was totally different as the hollywood style, so it was something completely new for me and also because I felt more identificated with the characters of the russian directors.
